Nowadays our cinema industry is separated into a two camps: hollywood films for the masses and the alternate pictures so-called indie films. I think that this division became obsolete and we should re-unite cinematography. Firstly, there were strong reasons of indie appearance: mass culture had become primitive, art of cinematography was turning to a simple moneymaking machine. Intelligentsia posed a stern challenge to a mind-rottening process: they kept this art from total degradation. A chance to make an intellectual cinema was given. Now everything differ: the censorship is weak, well-known actors support indie industry. More than that, people are tired of mass culture and are ready to perceive something more complex, than sex and violence. The alternate culture has been inoculated into the Hollywood. Now beautiful and thoughtful at the same time films are produced in CA (which does not mean, that there is no crap at all). The main problem is: there is no need in opposition anymore, but indie keep working away from the mainstream. Films, that were firstly defined as ‘an ordinary/primitive visual row introducing a new ideas’, had turned to a barren films with bad picture. Every third indie film nowadays is about gays, transvestites or pedophiles, who are misunderstood. I think the solution of this situation is restoration of the unity between CA and indie. That will remove fault aureole of intelligent off indie crap and fault aura of pure gain from professional masterpiece. Good picture does not definitely mean inanity as the poor budget and hero-pervert are not enough for meaning.
Postscriptum:BTW, essay was written to improve skills of writing in 250 chars limit. That's a real tortue for 'creative nature'. Here are 270. I'm close...
